Dr Jane Chapman

Dr Jane Chapman has been practising medicine for more than three decades, bringing together the best of conventional medicine with a deeper, more personalised approach to health.

After graduating from the University of Tasmania in 1989, Dr Jane began her medical career in General Practice, later establishing her own clinic in Hobart with a strong foundation in orthodox medicine. As her experience grew, so did her interest in understanding the “why” behind illness, not just treating symptoms, but exploring the underlying drivers of poor health.

This passion led Dr Jane to further her training in Integrative and Functional Medicine through ACNEM, the Australian College of Nutritional and Environmental Medicine.

Today, her approach combines medical knowledge, functional testing, nutritional medicine and patient-centred care to help uncover what may be contributing to symptoms, imbalance and chronic health concerns.

Dr Jane Chapman is passionate about looking beyond symptoms and exploring the deeper biochemical, hormonal, nutritional and lifestyle factors that may be affecting a patient’s health.

Since 2013, Dr Chapman has continued to expand her knowledge through regular training in biomedical and integrative approaches to healthcare, with a particular interest in mental health, children’s behavioural concerns, autism, women’s health, dementia, Parkinson’s disease and complex chronic conditions.

Her favourite topics to discuss / delve into include the MTHFR gene, hormones, women’s hormonal health, autoimmune disease, HTMA testing, GI-MAP testing, adrenal fatigue, gut health & the gut brain axis, thyroid health, methylation, nutrient deficiencies and so much more.

Dr Chapman’s approach often includes investigating key areas such as vitamin and mineral deficiencies, amino acid status, methylation issues, pyrrole levels, copper/zinc balance, gut health, adrenal function, thyroid health and hormonal imbalances. Treatment may involve nutritional support, complementary medicines, supplements, bio-identical hormones and, where appropriate, pharmaceutical medicines.

At the heart of her philosophy is a simple belief: healthcare should look for the cause, not just treat the symptoms. Dr Chapman aims to educate and empower her patients, involving them in decisions about their care and creating treatment plans that reflect their individual biochemistry, lifestyle and health goals. She may also recommend dietary changes and, when needed, work alongside specialists, naturopaths, nutritionists and more to provide a more complete approach.

Her goal is to support the body’s natural ability to function well, reduce toxicity, restore balance and help patients move away from “dis-ease” toward greater health, energy, clarity and long-term wellness.
